🦷Nitrous oxide sedation (aka “laughing gas”) is a colorless, almost odorless gas that is combined with oxygen, then administered to you through a small mask that covers your nose. Nitrous oxide can be used safely in both children and adults.

✅The benefit of nitrous sedation is that it is reversed at the end of the appointment, and you can return to your normal daily activities with no side-effects.

🦷Oral sedation is administered in-office using a pill an hour before your dental appointment. Oral sedation provides more sedation than nitrous oxide alone but is still considered minimal sedation as you are awake, able to communicate and respond to directions.

✅However, with oral sedation, the effects of sedation last for the day and patients need to be escorted to and from their appointments.
