🦷April is oral health month and to celebrate Steveston Smiles provides Tooth Talks for kids ages 3 years and up in our community.

🪥During the Steveston Smiles Tooth Talk kids will learn how to brush and floss their teeth as well as about healthy snacks, sugar bugs and cavities. Each child gets a tooth friendly goodie bag to take home at the end of each talk.

We are booking NOW for April and May 2025 and have limited spots available.

What is Solea?

Solea is the first CO2 dental laser cleared by the FDA for all-Tissue dental procedures, meaning treating cavities as well oral surgery that involves gums and or bone.

The Solea laser enables dentists to treat cavities without a drill or needle

How does it work?
The laser vaporizes target tissue using light, without contact whether it is tooth, bone or gum.

Is the procedure really done without a needle? How?
Yes, it is, there is rarely a need to inject a patient. Solea uses a wavelength of light delivered in thousands of pulses per second that provides an analgesic effect that takes away almost all of the sensation.

What types of procedures can you perform with Solea?
The majority of procedures can be done with Solea; routine cavity fillings, removing old fillings, crowns and more complex surgeries.

Nitrous or Laughing gas works by easing their dental fears and increasing relaxation . It allows our dentists and hygienists to get treatment done quickly and easily. It allows for a positive experience at the dentist.

The effects of Nitrous Oxide begin within just a few minutes, your child may notice:

* Warm sensations throughout their body.
* The feeling of drifting or floating.
* A dreamlike state.

One of the more common side-effects in kids is nausea. This is why we require no eating or drinking three hours prior to sedation.

Do you wear a denture? Here's a quick tip on how to keep your dentures clean and fresh:

1.Remove your dentures and rinse them under running water to remove any loose debris.

2.Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner to gently brush all surfaces of your dentures.

3.Rinse your dentures thoroughly to remove any remaining cleaner.

4.Soak your dentures in a denture-cleaning solution, following the instructions provided.

5.Rinse your dentures again before placing them back in your mouth.

💕Bonnie’s favourite colour is pink, her favorite food sushi and her favorite candy is a tie between Oh Henry and Mars.

🦷Moayad is working a maternity leave position at our office. He was trained as a dentist in Egypt and recently moved to BC.

🪥Moayad uses a manual toothbrush because he hasn’t upgraded to an electric one yet.🤣 Sensodyne is his toothpaste f choice and he uses Listerine floss.
