CANADIAN DENTAL CARE PLAN
We are NOW accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for our existing Steveston Smiles patients.
We are thrilled to have the Canadian government recognize the vital role that oral health has in a person’s overall health and wellness. We are starting by accepting CDCP coverage for our current and active patients. At this time we are not accepting new patients who have CDCP coverage. This will allow our team the time they need to learn the administrative ins and outs of this new plan.
The following steps are required to allow us to take your CDCP coverage:
- Be a current and active patient of Steveston Smiles.(Be a patient for a minimum of 1-year and have been seen for regular dental care within the last year.)
- A copy of your CDCP card so we can verify coverage before any appointments.
- A complete oral examination will need to be completed to which will include: Exam, oral cancer screening, periodontal, TMJ and bite assessment as well as any necessary x-rays.
- Read and sign a CDCP consent form.
- Your dental services will be pre-authorized prior to each appointment and a financial agreement will need to be signed prior to treatment.
- Provide credit card information to have securely on file for fees that are not covered by the CDCP.
What is covered by the CDCP?
The CDCP currently covers dental procedures that are under the BASIC category for dental insurance. Examples of what is covered currently under the CDCP is: dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings and extractions. Dental procedures that are under the MAJOR category for dental insurance are currently not covered by CDCP but are projected to be able to send in pre-authorization starting November 1, 2024. These major coverage procedures will be subject to the clinical criteria and exclusions of the CDCP. Bridges, implants and implant crowns are currently not covered under the CDCP plan.
